Paulton travelled to Taunton on Saturday to face Parkfield. Eager for a win after their first league game loss to Newton the week before by only 2 goals, Paulton started the game strongly.
The first quarter saw Paulton settle quite quickly, even though they were without their full squad. Excellent shooting from Davina and Cheryl ensure an early lead at 12-4
The second quarter proved more of a battle, with Parkfields frustration and inexperience leading to a more contested quarter. With accurate passing from Shelley and Hayley in centre court however ensured Paulton extended their lead at half time.
Charlotte came on at 3rd quarter at GK to aid the squad rotation with Ness going to WD. This did not affect the defence however as many interceptions were made by Vicky and Charlotte in Parkfield’s attacking circle, leading to good linkage in the centre court from Ness.
The final Quarter provided a well deserved rest for Davina with Ness going into Shoot, and Debbie returning calmly to WD. Paulton continued to play strong and making little error. Paulton were able to hit their target of a 30 goal lead, ending the game successfully at 62 goals to 30.
A disappointing defeat loosing by only 2 goals, a game Paulton could have had in the bag, however with last minute decisions, this ended turning the result.
The first quarter, Paulton was fighting 110% turning over almost every opportunity from each centre to make our goals scored count. With excellent efforts from centre court players Shelly and Hayley, once the ball reached the circle, Cheryl and Vina had no trouble with there on form shooting in gaining the team goals, leading us to a healthy lead.
The game then became even tougher in the second quarter with Newton picking up the pace slowly getting close with goal scorings, with strong defence Victoria, Deb And Josie had a tough quarter but proved there skill by turning over their attackers passes.
If being drenched wasn’t bad enough, it was now a 17-17 draw, a decision to change centre court showed off Debs new talent as centre! And ness with an awesome quarter as WA making sure every ball was direct to score the much-needed goals, which steadied the game.
Paulton took the last quarter with real determination to want to win the game, and played the best netball we have played, but unfortunately with some decisions made against us, which some would say harsh, the game which was a lead by Paulton slowly passed into Newtons hands, a team effort saw many turn overs however not enough to see Paulton have the winning title which they had deserved. With a 22-20 defeat Paulton walked with there heads high as this matched proved there amazing team play! Brilliant play girls!
With Paulton winning all four games of the season so far they knew this home match against ex-premiership team Neptune was not going to be easy but they wanted to keep the winning streak going!
The first quarter started with a few nerves but the whole team settled with Vina and Cheryl keeping us in the game with a ten all score line at quarter time. Still using the new squad rotation saw Ness come on as WA.
The game was still tight in the second quarter with every goal being worked hard for. Towards the end of the quarter Cheryl took a tumble, having to come off with an injury and left the team concerned if she could play on. However, Josie, Victoria and Deb worked incredibly hard to gain Paulton a three goal lead at half time.
The third quarter saw a few more changes and with all the support from the sidelines, Paulton steadied their game. With excellent centre court passes from Hayley and Ness, plus continued goal averages from Cheryl and Vina, Paulton were now ten goals ahead.
Paulton decided to take on the last quarter with real determination and with excellent passing into the circle from Shelley, Paulton won the game 52-37. An amazing game, well played all!

Paulton Netball Club has been fundraising since September in order to install floodlights at Paulton park. Currently there is no safe provision for training at night in the village and the club has been forced to play at Midsomer Norton and Writhlington since
The beginning of the season.
To date the netball club has held a sponsored shoot-out and fun day, disco and Body Shop evening and has raised more than £1,000 for their Let There Be Light fund.
As part of their fundraising, on Sunday, from 2pm to 4pm, the club will be holding a Christmas fair at Paulton Rovers featuring Santa’s grotto, tombola, cake stalls, refreshments and lots of fun and games for the children.
On Sunday December 10 the players will be carol singing at Tesco, collecting donations and dressing up in festive costums.
The netball club has recently joined forces with Paulton Rovers Youth Football Club as they also have nowhere safe to train at night.
The clubs jointly represent more than 150 children and more than 30 adults and they would welcome any support in their fundraising efforts.
Both sports clubs are committed to bring their sport home to Paulton and, in the process, provide a new sporting facility for the village to enjoy.
