Ambers v Paulton B 03/03/12

Paulton travelled to Sydenham to take on Ambers after having beaten them previously by only 2 goals. The ladies were expecting a tough game.

The game started slowly with Paultons defence nervous under foot due to slippery conditions, the team took time to settle but Liz remained steady proving pivotal to keep the rest of the team going. With direct passing into the awaiting shooters Paulton pulled ahead 6-16.

A change around saw Katrina on for her first appearance since taking maternity leave. The change worked well with Andrea making many interceptions and keeping her GS at bay, with fantastic back up from Shelley who moved the ball up the court brilliantly. Darby and Helen worked well in the shooting circle battling hard against the Ambers defence to keep Paulton in the game, the quarter ended 22-29.

After a pep talk from the supporting A side Paulton came back onto court with a new look defence of Kim, Kristie and Jade. This worked brilliantly with Ambers shaken by the change. However just as the defence settled a change had to be made after Kristie took a tumble with Andrea back on court. They continued to work turning the ball over swiftly. Paulton remained ahead 32-43.

The final quarter saw Sarah back on court injecting much needed pace and enthusiasm, passing well into the awaiting shooters and backing up the defence when needed. Ambers made Paulton work hard for every goal but in the end the visiting side proved too strong and they went home happy with their win 41-51. Paulton remain in a great position for promotion.
