On Saturday 11th February Paulton A squad faced local team Harlequins. Having beaten them at the start of the season, Paulton were gunning for another 5 points. Paulton started exceptionally well, with great team spirit and the ambition to win. The defence of Victoria and Char, saw mistakes made by Harlequins punished and converted convincingly by Cheryl and Vina. After fifteen minutes Paulton were ahead 17-9.
With one change of Laura on as WD, Paulton had to continue working as a team, as Harlequins came out with increased determination in the second quarter. With accurate movement in centre court from Laura, Deb and Hayley, Paulton kept their lead of 34-23.
After a positive team talk at half time, Vanessa added further confidence to the defence in the third quarter. Paulton were playing with accurate passing and rehearsed team plays to continue scoring goals, and converting interceptions. Paulton led 50-33 into the final quarter.
With further encouragement, Laura came back on court as WD for the final quarter. Cheryl and Vina proved too difficult to defend and happily converted their shots. A clear team effort and spirit resulted in Paulton winning 66-43.
Thank you to Shelley for reserving and all the family and friends who supported from the side lines.
