Paulton’s first game back in the New Year saw Paulton A take on Bridgwater’s Neptune at home after a match break due to the poor weather. Paulton were confident about their fitness and took to the court knowing that they would have a challenge on their hands.
The first 15 minutes worked well for the team as they settled into the game playing some strong netball, keeping Neptune on their toes. Goal for goal kept the score close 11-12 with Neptune ahead in the first quarter.
The game remained tight in the second quarter with all 7 players keeping up the pace. Charlotte and Vanessa defended the circle well against two tall Neptune shooters while Helen and Debbie work hard to bring overturns into attack. Neptune held their lead with the score at half time 21-23.
A change at half time bought Catherine on at WD to put pressure on Neptune’s centre passes. With Paulton continuing to work hard they managed to draw level in the third quarter before Charlotte at GK came off through injury, changing the defence’s dynamics which allowed Neptune to pull ahead 35-40.
The last quarter saw Davina at GS and Cheryl at GA work hard, with accurate shooting and some strong movement to keep up the team’s spirit. The whole team showed great commitment until the final whistle ending the match 42-58 to Neptune.
The team would like to thank everyone that came to support them.
