Paulton A v Saturn 19/11/11

On a high from last week’s win Paulton A took to the court looking to secure another successful match and they didn’t disappointment themselves.  From the opening whistle Paulton took the game to Saturn passing with accuracy and flair, driving into space allowing Cheryl and Davina to score a massive 19 goals to 4.

The second quarter saw the first of many rotations with Laura swapping with Vanessa to come on at WD.  As play started Paulton picked up the tempo once again with Victoria and Charlotte holding off Saturn’s shooters, overturning balls for Laura and Debbie to work down the court.  With everyone defending hard and Cheryl, Davina and Hayley overturning more than a few of Saturn’s backlines, the team disabled Saturn’s attack allowing them to score only 1 goal, winning the quarter 30 – 5.

Another rotation in the third quarter saw Vanessa swap with Cheryl at GA as the team took to the court determined to remain focused to extend their lead.  Saturn also made a few changes in attack strengthening their team allowing them to find their momentum but Paulton continued to work hard, driving the ball through the channels, moving into space.  As Davina and Vanessa cemented their partnership the goals continued to flow with Laura making valuable interceptions to help keep Saturn trailing 41 – 14.

Finally the fourth quarter saw Vanessa move to GS rotating with Davina and Cheryl returning at GA.  After a final team talk the girls knew they needed to stay disciplined if they were to prevent a newly revived Saturn from winning the quarter.  Accurate passing and dynamic movement from Debbie at C and Hayley at WA ensured that Cheryl and Vanessa could continue to work the circle and shoot some fantastic goals.  Back in defence Charlotte made some great interceptions at GK to secure herself player of the match as voted by Saturn.  The final score was a well deserved win for Paulton 52 – 22.

The team would like to thank Jane for umpiring and all their supporters for cheering them on.
