Paulton A v Trident 29/10/11

For the second week running Paulton’s A team expected a tough match against Trident who were relegated from the regional league last at the end of last season.

The match started very unsteady for the home team. Despite this new player Jess, playing her first game for the club, made some excellent interceptions and worked well with Victoria to keep Paulton in the game, finishing the first quarter 5-17.

After some changes for the second quarter, Paulton were still finding their feet with the fast pace game. Paulton lacked their normal passing accuracy and match awareness and the quarter ended 9-18.

After a good team talk at half time and more squad rotation, with Deb moving to WD and Hayley to C, Paulton were still fighting to close the gap. The 3rd quarter seemed to be a tough quarter with each team going goal for goal. With brilliant conversions from Paulton’s defence, Davina and Cheryl were able to create some fantastic goals, from accurate passes from Ness, which ended the quarter at 27-48.
Determination and fitness from Laura, Hayley and Ness served Paulton well and they were able to keep the game going, fighting for every ball and winning the last quarter. It may not have been enough but Paulton put on an outstanding team performance. Ending the game 38-57.
