In the worst weather conditions they have faced all season Paulton B took to the court soaked trough from the rain, however they were determined not to let this dampen their spirits. The ladies knew that short sharp passing and positive decision making would win them the game.
The game started well with Paulton acclimatising to the conditions quickly making valuable interceptions and turning the ball over swiftly. Helen and Darby proved once more consistent with their shooting prowess scoring goal after goal thanks to great passes in from Liz at WA. The quarter ended with Paulton in the lead 20-5.
The second quarter saw a change as Sophie came on at WD making a spectacular interception from the first whistle. The team moved well from set pieces and communicated to get the ball to the awaiting shooters. Andrea at GK prevented her GS from gaining any ground and made multiple interceptions that were delivered down court with some direct passing from Shelley and Kim. Paulton remained steadily in the lead at half time 32-8.
The third quarter saw more change for the ever versatile squad with Jade back on court at WD, Shelley moving to C and Sophie at GD. This worked well with the ladies slotting together as a team nicely, despite some slippery balls the team managed to tirelessly chase ever ball down and to work the ball swiftly up court to the awaiting shooters. Jade proved pivotal linking well with the attack and defending every ball brilliantly. The quarter ended 44-14.
For the final quarter Paulton were chasing a high goal difference to help them in their quest for promotion at the end of the season. With this in mind the attackers set themselves a target and went full pelt to achieve it. Conditions deteriorated and many balls were lost for both teams due to the sheer amount of water on the court but Paulton kept battling and came out with a score line to be extremely proud of 60-16.
The club would like to thank all the supporters who were very soggy by the end of the days matches.
