Having watched an intense Hawks game that took its toll on 2 players Vipers took to the indoor court determined to get maximum points from their clash with Queensway.
The game started well for both teams with the ball moving quickly from end to end. Ruby made her Vipers debut at C working hard in centre court linking well with both the attack and defence. Vipers pushed hard but Queensway pulled a little ahead at the close of the first quarter 12-8.
A squad rotation saw Shelley on at C adding experience and pace. Kristie came on at GK working well keeping spirits high and ensuring the team work together. Queensway continued to push and maintained their lead 20-16.
The third quarter was mixed for Vipers. The team worked well together, with the ball flowing with ease to the awaiting shooters. However Sarah, having played some fantastic netball, went down making it the 3rd ankle injury for Paulton Rovers Netball Club in one Saturday. This shook the team although after a brief period of unease Vipers came back fighting. The quarter ended 33-29.
The final quarter was by far the best for Vipers with Kim and Laura working hard in defence making many interceptions and Liz moving the ball well into the attacking circle. Helen and Millie repeatedly hit the target to put Vipers right back in contention. However time was against them and the as the whistle blew the game went to Queensway 43-41.
Vipers would like to wish Sarah, Andrea and Ness a very speedy recovery!
