Paulton’s Vipers hosted Galmington’s Parkfield in the Knock Out Cup. Newly promoted to the First Division and with confidence from the previous week’s performance, spirits were high. However, due to injury Debbie couldn’t start the match.
The game started well for both sides with the ball going goal for goal. Vipers remained firm, with good communication and some great turnovers in defence from Becky and Andrea. Ending the first quarter positively 13-7 in the lead.
Vipers continued to attack every ball with some great movement in attack from Hayley, Zoe and Ness. Strong passing through to Helen and great shooting ensured a confident half time lead of 27-16.
Galmington made a few team changes at half time but this did not deter Vipers from remaining strong. With few errors in defence and interceptions from Kristie, Vipers
continued to make the most of each opportunity! Zoe and Helen now shooting took Vipers into the last quarter with an even greater lead of 39-23.
The final quarter saw a few further team changes with Debbie testing her injury out at centre. Hayley moved to WA with Ness at GA and Zoe at GS. Trying to keep the pace high and demonstrating fitness levels, Vipers romped home to win 46-32. A great team effort. Thanks to the umpires and all the loud supporters!
